Composter crafting recipe
Produces 1× Composter.

- This is a shaped recipe, meaning the items must be placed in this specific arrangement on the grid.
- Composter requires a crafting table to craft.
About the Composter
The Composter is a block that turns plant material and other organic items into bone meal. You feed it by using compostable items on it, such as seeds, saplings, crops, or rotten flesh. Each item has a chance to raise the fill level, and once the composter is full, you can collect one piece of bone meal from it.
Key facts:
- Stores up to seven layers of compost.
- A full composter produces one bone meal when emptied.
- A comparator can read its fill level, which makes it useful in redstone builds.
- Farmer villagers use it as their job site block.
How to get the Composter
You can craft a composter from seven wooden slabs of any wood type, arranged in a U shape in the crafting grid. Composters also generate naturally in village farms, so you can often pick one up there if you find a village. They are not dropped by mobs or found in treasure chests, so crafting and village farms are the main sources.
