About Diamond
Diamond is a rare gem that you use to craft durable tools and armor. It is also an ingredient for an enchanting table, a jukebox, and blocks of diamond. Diamond works as an armor trim material, giving gear a pale blue pattern.
Key facts:
- Used for diamond tools and armor, enchanting tables, jukeboxes, and diamond blocks.
- Can be applied as an armor trim material.
- Not a light source or redstone component.
How to get Diamond
You get diamonds by mining diamond ore or deepslate diamond ore with an iron pickaxe or better. The ore is found deep underground, mostly near Y=-59, and each block drops one diamond unless you use a Fortune-enchanted pickaxe. Diamonds also appear in loot chests in structures such as buried treasure, desert temples, mineshafts, and end cities. They are not dropped by mobs, so mining and chest loot are the main sources.
