About Emerald

Emerald is Minecraft's trading currency. Villagers and wandering traders use it for most of their deals, so it is the item you will usually stockpile when buying enchanted gear, food, building blocks, and other supplies.

Its main crafting use is the Block of Emerald, which stores nine emeralds in one slot and can be used as a beacon base. The block can be turned back into nine emeralds whenever you need them.

How to get Emerald

You cannot craft emeralds. The most reliable way is to trade with villagers, who will buy items like crops, paper, and sticks, or sell useful goods for emeralds.

You can also mine emerald ore in mountain biomes with an iron pickaxe or better. The ore is rare, and Fortune increases the drops. Emeralds also appear in some chests in villages, temples, and other structures, and a few illager mobs can drop them.
