About the End Crystal

The End Crystal is an explosive, placeable item with two main uses in the End. Natural crystals on the obsidian pillars heal the Ender Dragon, and crafted ones let you respawn the dragon after you have defeated it.

Key facts:

Heals a nearby Ender Dragon while it is active.
Explodes when hit or broken, damaging players and blocks nearby.
Can only be placed on obsidian or bedrock.
Place four End Crystals on the exit portal to bring the dragon back.

You cannot move natural crystals from the End's pillars, so crafted ones are the only version you can carry and place yourself.

How to get the End Crystal

You can only get an End Crystal item by crafting it. The recipe uses seven glass blocks, one eye of ender, and one ghast tear. The eye of ender means you need blaze powder and an ender pearl, and the ghast tear means a trip to the Nether. Natural crystals in the End cannot be picked up, and breaking them just causes an explosion.
