About Furnace
The furnace is the basic smelting and cooking block. Open it to use a three-slot menu: fuel at the bottom, ore or raw food at the top, and the finished product on the right. It keeps burning as long as it has both fuel and something to work on.
Key facts:
- Smelts ores into ingots, cooks raw meat into safe food, and turns sand into glass.
- While smelting, it gives off light level 13.
- You can feed it and empty it automatically with hoppers.
How to get Furnace
You can craft a furnace from eight cobblestone arranged in a ring, leaving the centre empty. Blackstone and cobbled deepslate also work as substitutes for cobblestone. You can also find furnaces already placed in many village houses and inside igloos; mine one with a pickaxe to pick it up.
