About Iron Shovel
The Iron Shovel is a reliable digging tool for clearing soft blocks like dirt, sand, gravel, clay, snow, and soul sand. It is much faster than using your bare hands, though it cannot mine stone or ores properly.
You can also use it to turn grass blocks into dirt paths by right-clicking the top of the block. It can even put out a campfire with a quick use.
Key facts:
- Durability: 250 uses before it breaks
- Faster than a stone shovel, but slower than diamond or netherite
- Best kept for soft ground, not mining
How to get Iron Shovel
You can craft an Iron Shovel by placing one iron ingot above two sticks in a crafting table. The ingot goes in the top slot, with the two sticks filling the slots directly below it.
Some zombies and husks may also spawn holding an iron shovel and occasionally drop it when killed, but crafting is the steady and reliable way to get one.
