About Polished Basalt
Polished Basalt is a smooth decorative block made from regular basalt. Its texture has a clean vertical grain, so it reads like a carved pillar or column from most angles. You can rotate the block by placing it from different directions, which makes it useful for structural supports, trim, and modern-looking builds.
It is purely cosmetic. It does not give off light, has no redstone behaviour, and cannot be used as a furnace or container. Think of it as a building block first.
How to get Polished Basalt
You get Polished Basalt by processing regular basalt. Put four basalt blocks in a 2x2 crafting grid to make four polished basalt blocks, or use a stonecutter to convert basalt to polished basalt one block at a time.
Basalt is common in the Nether, especially in basalt deltas, so bring a pickaxe and mine plenty there. The polished version itself is not found in chests or sold by villagers.
