About Red Sandstone
Red Sandstone is a reddish decorative building block, the badlands cousin of ordinary sandstone. It comes in the same family of variants, including cut, chiseled, smooth, slab, stair, and wall forms. Unlike sand, it is a solid block and does not fall.
It is mainly used for building in desert or badlands styles. You need a pickaxe to collect it. Smelting regular Red Sandstone in a furnace gives Smooth Red Sandstone, which has a cleaner face and no sand texture.
How to get Red Sandstone
You can find Red Sandstone naturally in badlands biomes, often beneath layers of red sand. Mining it with a pickaxe drops the block.
You can also craft it by placing four red sand in a 2x2 square in your inventory or a crafting table. Red sand is gathered from badlands, so either way you will need to visit that biome. There are no villager trades or chest loot sources for this block.
