About Gray Dye

Gray Dye is one of the sixteen standard Minecraft dyes. It is used to color wool, beds, terracotta, glass, concrete powder, candles, banners, shulker boxes, and leather armor. You can also right-click a sheep with it to dye the sheep directly, or apply it to a tamed wolf's collar.

Because it is a neutral, muted color, builders often reach for gray when they want stone-like or shaded tones. It behaves like any other dye, so most colored blocks accept it in their recipes.

How to get Gray Dye

The main way to get Gray Dye is to craft it. Combine one black dye and one white dye in a crafting grid, and you get two gray dye. Black dye can come from ink sacs or wither roses, while white dye comes from bone meal or lily of the valley.

You can also sometimes buy Gray Dye from a wandering trader, who may offer three dyes for one emerald.
