About the Hopper Minecart

A Hopper Minecart is a minecart with a five-slot hopper built in. Its main job is moving and collecting items automatically. As it rolls along a rail, it picks up loose item drops from the ground around it. It can also pull items out of a container directly above it and push its contents into a hopper below, which makes it useful for farms, item transport, and sorting setups.

Unlike a normal hopper, it keeps working while it moves. You can place it on any rail and send it off with powered rails, then let hoppers load or unload it along the route.

How to get the Hopper Minecart

The only way to get a Hopper Minecart is to craft one. Combine a minecart and a hopper anywhere in a crafting grid. That means you need iron for both parts: five ingots for the minecart, and a chest plus five more iron ingots for the hopper. In total, the full chain costs ten iron ingots and a chest. You will not find one in chest loot or villager trades.
