  • This is a shaped recipe, meaning the items must be placed in this specific arrangement on the grid.
  • Recovery Compass requires a crafting table to craft.

About the Recovery Compass

The Recovery Compass is a tool that points to the spot where you last died. Hold it in your hand and the needle swings toward that location, making it much easier to reach your dropped items before they despawn.

Key facts:

  • Works only in the dimension where you died. In another dimension or before your first death, it spins aimlessly.
  • Resets each time you die, always tracking your most recent death spot.
  • Shows direction only, not distance.

You do not need fuel or a charge. Just keep it in your hand and follow the needle.

How to get the Recovery Compass

You can only get the Recovery Compass by crafting it. The recipe uses one echo shard in the centre and eight regular compasses around it, so it is an expensive tool to make. Echo shards are found only in Ancient City chests, and regular compasses can be crafted from iron and redstone or found in some structure chests. The Recovery Compass itself does not appear in chests or trades.
