How to craft Clock in Minecraft
To craft a clock in Minecraft, place 4× Gold Ingot, 1× Redstone in the exact pattern on a crafting table to craft 1 clock
Clock crafting recipe
Produces 1× Clock.

- This is a shaped recipe, meaning the items must be placed in this specific arrangement on the grid.
- Clock requires a crafting table to craft.
About the Clock
The Clock shows the position of the sun and moon in the Overworld, so you can check whether it is day or night without going outside. It updates while you hold it, while it sits in your hotbar, or when you place it in an item frame.
In the Nether or the End the dial spins around uselessly, so it only works as a timekeeper in the Overworld. It is an item, not a placeable block, and it has no effect on redstone or mobs.
How to get the Clock
You can craft a Clock from four gold ingots and one redstone dust. Put the redstone in the centre of the crafting grid and place the gold ingots in the four cardinal slots around it. You may also find Clocks in ruined portal chests, and higher-level librarian villagers sometimes sell them.
