About Red Dye

Red Dye is a basic colouring item used to make many blocks and items red. You can use it to dye wool, beds, terracotta, glass, concrete powder, and leather armour. You can also apply it directly to a sheep to change the colour of its wool before shearing.

Red Dye stacks up to 64 and is one of the sixteen dyes in Minecraft, which makes it useful for building and decorating in red.

How to get Red Dye

You can get Red Dye by crafting it from several easy-to-find red plants. A poppy, red tulip, or beetroot gives one dye, and a rose bush gives two. Beetroot is especially convenient if you already grow it on a farm. Wandering traders also sell three Red Dye for one emerald, so buying some is an option when one passes by.
