  • Purple Dye can be crafted directly in your inventory or in a crafting table.

About Purple Dye

Purple Dye is one of the sixteen dyes in Minecraft. Like other dyes, it colours wool, terracotta, concrete powder, glass, candles, beds, banners, signs, shulker boxes, and tamed pet collars. You can also dye sheep before shearing, or colour leather armour by crafting it with the dye.

As a mixed colour, purple is not gathered from a single flower. It is mainly used for building and decoration. You can also combine it with pink dye to craft magenta dye.

How to get Purple Dye

You get Purple Dye mainly by crafting. Place one Red Dye and one Blue Dye together anywhere in a crafting grid, and the recipe gives you two Purple Dye. Red Dye is easy to obtain from poppies, rose bushes, or beetroot. Blue Dye can be crafted from cornflowers or lapis lazuli. If you prefer not to craft, wandering traders sometimes sell three Purple Dye for one emerald.
