About Waxed Oxidized Lightning Rod

The Waxed Oxidized Lightning Rod is a fully weathered lightning rod locked at its green oxidized stage. It still does the same job as a fresh one: it attracts lightning strikes in a small radius, keeping the bolt away from wooden builds and other flammable spots.

When a strike hits the rod, it outputs a redstone signal, so some players use it as a storm detector or a random trigger for machines. You can place it on the top, side, or bottom of a block. Waxing only locks the colour; it does not change the rod's behaviour.

How to get Waxed Oxidized Lightning Rod

Start by crafting a regular lightning rod from three copper ingots placed in a vertical line. Place the rod somewhere exposed and wait for it to oxidize through all four stages until it turns green. Then use honeycomb on the oxidized rod to wax it. This stops any further change. Waxed oxidized lightning rods are not found in chests or sold by villagers, so crafting and weathering are the only route.
